We collect information you provide directly (such as email address for account creation, feedback, or support), as well as technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and usage data) automatically when you use Codetester.io.
Creating a shared link stores a snapshot of your submitted HTML, a random public identifier, creation and expiry dates, a hash of its management secret, and a keyed hash derived from your IP address. Sharing limits and temporary creation blocks also use address-derived hashes. These hashes help limit abuse; they are not a guarantee of anonymity. Report submissions store the selected reason, optional details, an address-derived hash, and review information.
Shared snapshots and their source are available to anyone with the link. Do not include confidential information. Shared code can load permitted resources from other websites; those sites may receive your IP address and other request information under their own policies.
Your information is used to provide and improve our services, communicate with you, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your data to third parties.
We use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience and analyze site usage.
Optional saved runner drafts are stored in your browser. The creator's browser may also retain recent sharing management links, which contain the ability to disable those links. Clearing browser storage can remove these records. We use Google Analytics to measure sharing actions and runner usage. Our sharing event code excludes submitted source, management secrets, and public share identifiers, and sanitizes sharing page addresses and referrers. Browser storage can identify a known creator opening their own link; other opens are not verified unique recipients.
We may share information with service providers as needed for operation, or if required by law.
We use reasonable security measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
Shared links normally expire after 30 days and can be disabled sooner. Routine cleanup is designed to clear stored source, its management-secret hash, and its creator-address hash after a seven-day waiting period following disablement or expiry. Cleanup timing depends on scheduled processing. Incident or legal preservation holds may delay deletion. Link metadata, reports, report-address hashes, and operator notes are retained as needed for operating the service, handling abuse, and legal obligations; reports have no automatic deletion period. Backups may retain earlier copies until they are rotated. Removing a link cannot remove copies held by recipients or other websites.
